Description

Daniel 10 begins the final vision Daniel records in his prophecy, this is the fourth of the visions recorded. This section of the final vision offers the background to the coming message contained in Chs. 11-12. Here Daniel is greeted and strengthened to receive the message. This message comes as a result of Daniel's prayer to God for his people. His prayers are referenced by the one who comes to Daniel. Before he is given the message, Daniel is told about the cosmic conflict that is happening behind the scenes from humanity. This reminds us that there are events happening in our world that are beyond us as human beings and yet, God himself is in control of them and created them - all for his glory. As believers, we must remember that prayers works and because it works - it matters. You can trust our powerful God to continue to rule over the affairs of mankind and accomplish his purposes in his time.

Daniel records events of the captivity of Judah (the two southern tribes combined following the civil war of Israel and the division of the twelve tribes). Daniel appropriately presents the sovereign work of God even in these foreign lands and over these foreign governments. Kings and kingdoms are subject to God, even when while they may not fully realize it. Through the narrative section (Chs. 1-6), Daniel demonstrates the sovereign hand of God at work presently among humanity. In the final prophetic section (Chs. 7-12), Daniel demonstrates the sovereign hand of God at work to build his kingdom in the future.
