The New York Mets were formed in 1962 as The Metropolitan Baseball Club (The Mets). The were affectionately known as lovable losers; and they were 40 wins and 120 loses the first year, but improvements were shown in succeeding years and in 1969 won the World Series. They won the pennant in 1973 and in 2000. At times they were real good or real bad. New York fans love this team, and in a way we need this team. We watch every game and swear we won't watch again when they have a disappointing lose, but we do. The New York Mets are us and just like parents complaining about their children we always hope for the best.
