When God made the covenant with the nation at Sinai He gave them the Ten Commandments as a nation. They all heard it, all 600,000+ of them. Judaism is the only religion to make a claim that God spoke a group of people, all others were private revelation. Jesus had the authority of a Son with respect to application of the Word in all situations, including when He cleansed the money changers and sellers of sacrificial animals. Just as God appealed to His authority as the one who brought the people out of the land of Egypt, so Jesus, by virtue of His sacrificial death on the cross and resurrection from the dead has authority over His people.
