Today’s guest is Peff Eich. Peff served in the United States Army and was a helicopter pilot during the Vietnam War. While in Vietnam, Peff was involved in several combat missions, to include the battle of Hamburger Hill in 1969. Peff talks about his childhood, the reasons he joined the Army, his training, and what it's like to fly a helicopter in combat. Peff has been involved in the Jimmy Miller Memorial Foundation’s Ocean Therapy Program.
This program provides surfing instruction and equipment to members of the Marines' Wounded Warriors Battalion in Camp Pendleton, CA Peff grew up in Southern California and has been surfing and playing guitar for most of his life, both of which he still enjoys to this day. He and his wife have two daughters, two son-in-laws, and grandchildren.
Several years ago, Peff wrote a song about his experiences in Vietnam called Sons and Daughters, which you can watch on YouTube.
He dedicated this song to his wife, his daughters, their husbands and his “precious” grandchildren. He also dedicated this song to all the veterans who have served this great nation, always at the ready, in times of peace and war.
