Our special guest on this episode is violinist John Weller. John was assistant concertmaster of the Seattle Symphony Orchestra for over 3 decades. He has performed as concertmaster for Seattle appearances of Renee Fleming and Mstislav Rostropovitch as well as for Marvin Hamlisch's many Pops concerts in Seattle. For sixteen summers he was also a member of Lincoln Center's Mostly Mozart Orchestra in New York, traveling with that group numerous times to Japan. Having studied Japanese obsessively for 3 years, John played a season as a member of the Nagoya Symphony Orchestra in the 1990's while on sabbatical leave from Seattle. A native of Portland, Oregon, John began the violin at the age of nine. Still performing over 100 concerts a year with the Seattle Symphony, John finds peace and balance sailing his boat 'Poeme' on the waters of Puget Sound and into Canada.
