Reverend Jim Ignatowski: Yeah, I did some drugs, though probably not as many as you think. How many drugs do you think I did?
Elaine Nardo: A lot.
Reverend Jim Ignatowski: Wow! Right on the nose!
Some of us are old enough to remember two definitions of "burnout." When I was little, a burnout was someone who did a few too many drugs in the '60s, resulting in cognitive and mental challenges in the '70s. They were a bit spacey and silly. Reverend Jim Ignatowski from the TV show Taxi was a classic example. A little throw back for those of you who are 50+!
In 2023, burnout has another definition - a state of physical or emotional exhaustion that also involves a sense of reduced accomplishment and loss of personal identity. How many times have you felt worn out, tired and frazzled on the job or in your business? More times that you can count, I'm sure. We've been there. Cheryl and I have lots of burnout stories, but we'd rather share something valuable with you. Learn how to identify burnout and what you can do to stave it off. It's really all about self care and knowing when you need it.
