Today we will turn back the clock 72 years to 1950, to Dimension X for a science fiction tale of the first journey to outer space.
Dimension X ran from 1950 to 1951, and although it wasn’t the first adult science fiction based show, it was one of the first to have a series of prewritten scripts from the finest sci-fi writers of the time. Hosted by Norman Rose, every episode starts with the signature catch phrase, “Adventures in time and space, told in… future tense.”
In this episode we will travel to a vast slab of concrete somewhere in the deep southwest. In 1950, when this particular episode was written and aired, the world's attention was on the development of the nuclear bomb. Long before the space race was ever declared, and 11 years before the first trip to outer space, it is fascinating to see what writers thought would happen in the not so distant future. So how accurate were they? Well sit back, relax, and turn back the clock 72 years, to Dimension X and The Outer Limit.
