Hello and welcome back to the time machine. We missed a scary episode on friday, so for today’s story we will go to a classic science fiction story, that is also one of my frightening favorites. This is one of the very first episodes of the show 2000 Plus which aired from 1950 to 1952. Unlike other science fiction type shows we have listened to, 2000 Plus was an anthology program, using all new material instead of being sponsored by major sci fi magazines of the time, like most others.
So for our story we will meet the Mr. and Mrs. who are just your normal everyday couple in the 2000s. The Mrs is a stay at home mom, and the Mr is a scientist who has just had a major breakthrough. He has created the ability to grow insects to two to five times their size. What is the purpose of this? Well who knows, but it works, and now he has to go interview with some universities about funding for his research. This leaves the Mrs at home alone for just a few hours. Alone that is, except for a few select insects that are unusually large. But not to worry, those are locked up safe in the laboratory. So sit back, relax, and travel back 72 years to May 17th, 1950, for 2000 Plus with The Insect.
