Today's journey will take us back to New York City almost 75 years ago. Following the topic of missing husbands and worried wives, we will listen to an early episode of Broadway is My Beat starring Anthony Ross as Detective Danny Clover, a hardened homicide cop who works “from Times Square to Columbus Circle”.
New York City can be stressful for people, especially coming from the country. The big crowds, the loud noises, heavy traffic. Now imagine how that would feel 75 years ago, maybe your first time ever in a big city. Now we will meet a couple just like that who come into the city, check into their hotel, the husband goes out for a moment and doesn’t return. You’d think the worst wouldn’t you? It’s New York after all and anything can happen at any time. Kidnapped? Murdered? Just relax, you're here to have a good time after all.
Broadway is My Beat ran from 1949-1954 on CBS, and Anthony Ross only played the main role for the first three months of the show. We’ll join Detective Danny Clover on an interesting case of theft and possibly even homicide?
So sit back, relax, turn down the lights, and travel back 73 years to March 6th 1949, with Broadway is my Beat’s: The Andrew Jenkins Case.
