Today we turn back the clock 75 years to The House in Cypress Canyon from Suspense. After the positive feedback I received about last week's “The Thing on the Forble Board”, I’ve decided to make Friday a day for more horror and suspense themed episodes. So it seems like an easy pick to jump to one of the most popular shows, perfectly named “Suspense.” Subtitled “radio’s outstanding theater of thrills”, almost 1000 episodes of the show were broadcast during its run from its audition program in 1940, all the way to 1962.

The show had several successes throughout the years, featuring famous actors such as Orson Welles, Henry Fonda, Humphry Bogart, Judy Garland, and Cary Grant just to name a few. Several adaptations for TV were produced including “The Hitch Hiker” which is featured on Rod Serling’s The Twilight Zone.

This particular episode was during the shows 1944 to 1947 run with Roma Wines as the title sponsor. Thats R-O-M-A, ROMA wines in case you were wondering.

We meet a man who’s renting some recently refinished homes, previously abandoned in Cypress Canyon. While he is looking through one of these homes he finds some writings. And that’s odd, this house has been abandoned for years, and yet this looks new. Hmmm… Strange… Well try to relax, sit back, maybe even turn down the lights? Well either way, I’m sure what you are about to hear will put you in Suspense.
