Hypothyroidism under active thyroid: causes autoimmune disease Hashimoto, treatment with radioactive iodin e, injury to hypothalamus or anterior pituitary gland, lack of thyroid function at birth, thyroid surgery or medictions

Signs and Symptoms of Hypothyroidism: weight gain, fatigue, constipation, depression, general pain, feeling cold, dyspepsia, dry coarse skin, hair loss, slow pulse rate, carpal tunnel, ascites, cold extremities.

Hyperthyroidism : over active thyroid: causes Graves disease, multi nodular goiter, toxic adenoma, inflammation of thyroid gland or eating too much iodine or taking too much thyroid hormone,

Signs and Symptoms of Hyperthyroidism: weight loss, nervousness, palpitations, diarrhea, heat intolerance, irritabily, muscle weakness, hand tremors, thickening skin on shins, eyes bulging,
