CAN YOU LEAD WELL? IF SOMEONE WERE FOLLOWING CLOSELY WOULD THEY “GET THERE?”
It’s amazing how often leaders, myself included believe they have given clear, concise and applicable instructions for a given assignment.
Recent I was chatting with another coach after a weekend training. We both marveled at the depth of some of the questions asked by those in attendance. What I realized was how many times I “skip over the basics” to try to offer the deeper meanings and more profound teachings.
On the way home, my wife asked me about something she had heard in the training. She said “do you do that too?” I said yes, “but I have been doing it so long, I mostly do it in my head.”
It had never dawned on me that I should be teaching that step to my StoryPower clients because it seemed so “elementary.”
Today I watched a video of a dad, following the instructions written by his children on making a PB&J Sandwich. It was hilarious but made me take pause as well.
