AT SOME POINT GREAT LEADERSHIP OFFENDS SOMEONE
“It would be nice if we could all just get along. It would also be nice if no one said a harsh word, set difficult expectations, created a demand for excellence. If all those things were true, we would have no need for leadership. It is the role of leadership to motivate, inspire, and influence. It is the purpose of a vision to establish the destination and the goals along the path. It is the ‘dark side’ of leadership which must hold people accountable to the standards, expectations and accomplishments set out by the vision. When those we lead miss the standards or the objectives clear and candid words are often needed to correct the course. Those words are not always perceived to be nice.” J Loren Norris
