Usually its a parent who’s athletic career ended too soon, they have out lived the glory days and need the attention again or they just never measured up to the talent and skill of their kids. Sometimes this vicarious nature comes in leadership by association. A person doesn’t really have the power, knowledge, skills, training but they are close friends with someone who does. Rather than speak of their own less than enthralling life experiences, they tell stories they have heard from others. Often, telling them so many times, they believe them to be their own stories. When discovered this damages credibility beyond repair.”
