“Wealth Redistribution” In A Capitalist Society
What happens when we “subsidize” personal responsibility?
What would “redistribution of wealth” look like? Are they related?
Who gets “paid” when big corporations get huge fines levied against them?
Who wins when entire industries are targeted for shutdown by the government?
I know this seems like a real stretch for a leadership lesson but remember my assignment is NOT TO TELL YOU WHAT TO THINK. I am only here to cause you to think, to provoke you to think, to inspire you to THINK! Oh. And to ask questions!
Leaders, real leaders instigate change which is directed at improving the lives and quality of lives for as many people as possible. LEADERS ADD VALUE TO OTHERS. Their focus is people not their own bank account.
Here is a strange and oft repeated reality. WHEN YOU ADD VALUE TO OTHERS MONEY TENDS TO FOLLOW. Generally speaking that is the purpose and power of capitalism and a free market. But it does rely on free will to choose who you do business with and how much. It also requires taking personal responsibility for the choices and actions which impact your own life.
