“It would only make sense for a leader to move people they influence in the direction of a mutually agreed upon vision, goal or destination. However, perhaps you’ve heard the seemingly unrelated phrases such as ulterior motive, narcissistic tendencies, or vision creep. These notions are directly related and intricately involved in the actual practice of leading. A leader who is not intentional and clear about the compelling vision driving them will get derailed. Many other motivations will redirect the path and the people. Get clear on the vision as assigned, articulate it regularly, revisit it often, especially if it is not your vision you are tasked to carry out.” J Loren Norris
