In this episode of Flow Over Fear, Adam discusses the importance of accountability and shares three ways to increase accountability in our lives. By understanding the role of community, setting clear expectations, and incorporating rewards and consequences, we can become more accountable and achieve our goals.
Three Ways to Increase Accountability
1. Community
• Surround yourself with people working towards similar goals
• Examples: sobriety groups, high achiever groups, sports communities
• The right community holds you accountable, provides mentorship, and expects accountability from you
2. Setting Clear Expectations
• Set SMART goals (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound)
• Make goals clear and specific, so there's no room for vagueness
• Set checkpoints and milestones to stay on track
3. Reward and Consequence
• Align rewards with the achievement of goals
• Turn activities into rewards that are associated with your goal
• Handle consequences with care; don't punish failure but correct it
Becoming more accountable is crucial for achieving success in our personal and professional lives. By engaging with the right community, setting clear expectations, and utilizing rewards and consequences effectively, we can increase our accountability and reach our goals.
