A man asked Jesus a great question: “Of all the
commandments, which is the most important?” (Mark 12:28). Jesus said, “The most important one is this: ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these” (Mark 12:29-31).
You could summarize all God’s commands with two phrases: “Love God. Love people.” Yet, when that man agreed with Jesus, Jesus told him: “You are not
far from the kingdom of God” (Mark 12:34). We need more than commandments to make it into heaven. We need a Savior! The way to heaven isn’t by obeying
commands. It’s by faith in Jesus. I hope you can listen to this sermon about the greatest commandment and our even greater Savior: “The Greatest Commandment.”
