1995’s Tommy Boy is a nuanced and foreboding examination of the dying auto industry and the corresponding communities who depend on it, set against the challenges created by nepotism in a capitalist society and a sprinkle of managing adults with diminished capacity in the workplace. Chris Farley and David Spade’s performances buttress a film which 25 years later resonates as a warning sign we all missed but can still learn from.
