Part Two of a two-part interview: Catherine Sachi Kikuchi is a bilingual, biracial, and bicultural person who was raised in Toronto, Canada. After completing a Master’s in Theoretical Linguistics, a TESL certificate, and achieving N1 level of the JLPT, she taught English in Japan for 4 years until she returned to Canada and began her own business providing Japanese and English language lessons and translation services. She currently serves as teacher, translator and CEO of Kokoro Communications, as well as teacher and CTO at Japanese for Nikkei.
In this second part, Sachi talks about cultural identity and being in a state of not knowing, her work as a language educator and a translator, and helping people of the Japanese diaspora reconnect with their cultural heritage.
