Esther gets word that Mordecai is in mourning. After a back and forth Mordecai challenges Esther to stand up for her people. "Who knows," he says, "whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this?
Has Esther become queen for this purpose? "Who knows," Mordecai says. "It's possible! Maybe!" When we see the uncertainty that these biblical heroes have about what God is doing and what he will do, we see that not much has changed. We are sometimes left guessing at what our future holds and how we should move forward. How do we reconcile this? How do we move forward and how can we know what God's purpose is for our lives?
