Gifts of the Holy Spirit

“On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.” By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified.”
‭‭John‬ ‭7:37-39‬ ‭NIV‬‬

1.) The Holy Spirit is In You for You, and On You for Others

“The spirit of God is upon me because he’s anointed me to”

God always anoints you to

““The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.””
‭‭Luke‬ ‭4:18-19‬ ‭ESV‬‬

2.) We need the gifts of the spirit and the spirit of the gifts

“There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work. Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues. All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines.”
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭12:4-11‬ ‭NIV‬‬

You were born of the spirit, you are full of the spirit, and you have the gifts of the spirit.

“If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.”
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭13:1-3‬ ‭NIV‬‬

3.) Everywhere you go this week is somewhere Jesus wants to be.

God is not looking for perfect people to work through. He’s looking for available people to work through.

4.) This cannot be Purchased, It’s GRACE

“When Simon saw that the Spirit was given at the laying on of the apostles’ hands, he offered them money and said, “Give me also this ability so that everyone on whom I lay my hands may receive the Holy Spirit.” Peter answered: “May your money perish with you, because you thought you could buy the gift of God with money! You have no part or share in this ministry, because your heart is not right before God. Repent of this wickedness and pray to the Lord in the hope that he may forgive you for having such a thought in your heart. For I see that you are full of bitterness and captive to sin.””
‭‭Acts‬ ‭8:18-23‬ ‭NIV‬‬

We need to be born of the spirit, full of the spirit, and with the power of the Holy Spirit!

5.) It is my privilege to eagerly desire the Gifts… So I can be a gift

“God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another.”
‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭4‬:‭10‬ ‭NLT‬‬
