Holy Spirit (Part 3) Be Filled With the Holy Spirit
One great evidence of the Holy Spirit at work in someone’s life is their passion to share their faith with others.
”But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”“
Acts 1:8 NIV
You can’t help but testify of the Goodness and the Grace of God in your life.
”Then I said, “I will not make mention of Him, Nor speak anymore in His name.” But His word was in my heart like a burning fire Shut up in my bones; I was weary of holding it back, And I could not.“
Jeremiah 20:9 NKJV
Religion says “you have to.” Grace says “I want to.” but when the Holy Spirit is doing something, you can’t help but want to share it.
The Holy Spirit works within us and the fruit of that is when we testify of His goodness.
1.) The Holy Spirit brings Conviction
Condemnation is from the devil and it drives you away from God. conviction is from the Holy Spirit and it points you to Jesus.
You know God’s spirit is at work when God begins to speak to you on everything from your morals to money.
Convictions about tithing
If you focus on values, your vision will come to pass.
Convictions about attending church
“As for me and my house we will serve the Lord” Joshua 24:15b
Convictions about sharing our faith
”“You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.“
Matthew 5:14-16 NKJV
”For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.”“
Romans 1:16-17 NKJV
”But Peter and John answered and said to them, “Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you more than to God, you judge. For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.” So when they had further threatened them, they let them go, finding no way of punishing them, because of the people, since they all glorified God for what had been done.“
Acts 4:19-21 NKJV
”For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words, of him the Son of Man will be ashamed when He comes in His own glory, and in His Father’s, and of the holy angels.“
Luke 9:26 NKJV
2.) The Holy Spirit turns Convictions into Courage
The Holy Spirit works in you to embolden you.
You are only as sick as your secrets, the Holy Spirit will convict your cowardice to make you courageous.
”The fear of man brings a snare, But whoever trusts in the Lord shall be safe.“
Proverbs 29:25 NKJV
Just because you’ve failed before doesn’t mean you need to stay there.
”The godly may trip seven times, but they will get up again. But one disaster is enough to overthrow the wicked.“
Proverbs 24:16 NLT
The enemy is an accuser. the Holy Spirit is an advocate. the enemy condemns, the Holy Spirit comes to convict, the enemy comes to shame, the Holy Spirit comes to save!
We need the Holy Spirit to strengthen our convictions, and give us great courage to accomplish what God has called us to do.
3.) The Holy Spirit will give us urgency.
”For God says, “At just the right time, I heard you. On the day of salvation, I helped you.” Indeed, the “right time” is now. Today is the day of salvation.“
2 Corinthians 6:2 NLT
