In God We Trust (Part 4) Honor
We fear God, and we Revere God, because we Honor God.
“Joyful is the person who finds wisdom, the one who gains understanding. For wisdom is more profitable than silver, and her wages are better than gold. Wisdom is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her. She offers you long life in her right hand, and riches and honor in her left. She will guide you down delightful paths; all her ways are satisfying. Wisdom is a tree of life to those who embrace her; happy are those who hold her tightly.”
Proverbs 3:13-18 NLT
Wisdom extends to you long life in one hand wealth and promotion in the other. Out of her mouth flows righteousness, and her words release both law and mercy.
Proverbs 3:16 TPT
When we honor God, it gives us access to the wisdom of God. 1.) We Honor the Lord with Our Giving
“Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the best part of everything you produce.”
Proverbs 3:9 NLT
If God can talk to you about your faith but not your finance, money still has your heart.
If God can talk to you about your spirituality but not your sexuality, then there are still areas of your heart that have no surrendered to Him. He wants to speak to every area of your life.
“ I will not sacrifice to the Lord my God offerings that cost me nothing.”
2 Samuel 24:24a
2.) We Honor the Lord with our work.
“Lazy hands make for poverty, but diligent hands bring wealth.”
Proverbs 10:4 NIV
“Diligent hands will rule, but laziness ends in forced labor.”
Proverbs 12:24 NIV
“The lazy do not roast any game, but the diligent feed on the riches of the hunt.”
Proverbs 12:27 NIV
“Do you see a man who excels in his work? He will stand before kings; He will not stand before unknown men.”
Proverbs 22:29 NKJV
Faithfulness is not an attendance issues faithfulness is a heart issue.
Serve the Lord with gladness.
“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.”
Colossians 3:23-24 NIV
Work hard for the Glory of God!
“In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
Matthew 5:16 NIV
3.) We honor The Lord with our Patience.
Jesus Christ gave His very best how can we give any less.
“When the wine was gone, Jesus’ mother said to him, “They have no more wine.” “Woman, why do you involve me?” Jesus replied. “My hour has not yet come.” His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.””
John 2:3-5 NIV
We live in a culture that wants to force God’s timeline.
If you promote yourself, you have to keep promoting yourself, but if God promotes you, nothing can stop it.
“Dishonest money dwindles away, but whoever gathers money little by little makes it grow.”
Proverbs 13:11 NIV We don’t chase fantasies, we chase God and His will.
The compound of consistency
“Some who are poor pretend to be rich; others who are rich pretend to be poor.”
Proverbs 13:7 NLT
It’s never about impressing man, it’s about honoring God.
“For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?”
Mark 8:36 NKJV “Even the youths shall faint and be weary, And the young men shall utterly fall, But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.”
Isaiah 40:30-31 NKJV
