Why do we worship part 3
“And they rose early in the morning and went out into the Wilderness of Tekoa; and as they went out, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and you inhabitants of Jerusalem! Believe in the Lord your God and you shall be established; believe and remain steadfast to His prophets and you shall prosper. When he had consulted with the people, he appointed singers to sing to the Lord and praise Him in their holy [priestly] garments as they went out before the army, saying, Give thanks to the Lord, for His mercy and loving-kindness endure forever! And when they began to sing and to praise, the Lord set ambushments against the men of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir who had come against Judah, and they were [self-] slaughtered;”
2 Chronicles 20:20-22 AMPC
1.) Praise Brings God on the Scene
When Praise God, He shows up!
“But You are holy, O You Who dwell in [the holy place where] the praises of Israel [are offered].”
Psalm 22:3 AMPC
God lives wherever you praise Him.
When God shows up, he shows up with all of His resources.
Praise causes problems for your problems.
2.) Praise Feeds your faith and starves your fears
You develop an appetite for whatever you feed yourself.
“Let us lift up our hearts and hands to God in heaven:”
Lamentations 3:41 ESV
“It is good to give thanks to the Lord, to sing praises to your name, O Most High;”
Psalm 92:1 ESV
“‘Ah, Lord God! It is you who have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and by your outstretched arm! Nothing is too hard for you.”
Jeremiah 32:17 ESV
3.) Praise points out all the things I do have instead of focusing on what I don’t.
“Praise the Lord! Sing to the Lord a new song, his praise in the assembly of the godly! Let Israel be glad in his Maker; let the children of Zion rejoice in their King! Let them praise his name with dancing, making melody to him with tambourine and lyre!”
Psalm 149:1-3 ESV
4.) Praise gets me out of grumbling and into gratitude.
Before you ask God for anything, thank God for everything.
“give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”
1 Thessalonians 5:18 ESV
