Taking Every Thought Captive
You have to take every thought captive because your life is always moving in the direction of your most dominant thoughts.
What comes into your mind comes out in your life.
1.)If you don’t control the way you think, you’ll never be able to control what you do.
“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
Romans 12:2 NIV
“And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.”
Philippians 4:8 NLT
The New King James Version says to “meditate on these things.”
Meditation means to engage in mental exercise, to focus one’s thoughts.
“I meditate on your precepts and consider your ways.”
Psalms 119:15 NIV
“I remember the days of long ago; I meditate on all your works and consider what your hands have done.”
Psalms 143:5 NIV
Eastern mediation wants you to empty your mind. Christian meditation is filling your mind with God’s truth.
“Your focus needs more focus” - The Karate Kid
Identify the stronghold that’s holding you back, and demolish that stronghold with the truth of God’s Word
Create new neuro pathways in your mind by renewing it with God’s truth.
2.) Take back your mind by meditating on God’s truth
You will know the truth and the truth will set you free - John 8:32
3.) Write it, think it, confess it, believe it.
In Christ, you are strong and mighty. You have the same power that raised Christ from the dead living inside of you.
In Christ, you are a weapon of righteousness in a world of darkness.
You are not your past. You are not what you have done. You are who God says you are.
God says you are forgiven. God says you are free. God says you are redeemed.
You are not a hostage to your unhealthy thoughts, you have the mind of Christ directing your thoughts.
You have the word of God directing your steps. Worry is not your master, you trust in God!
You have the peace of God guarding your mind, guarding your heart, and guarding your soul in Christ Jesus.
Your God has not given you a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and sound mind.
The Lord himself is your helper and you will not be afraid.
You are not a slave to your habits or a prisoner to your past, you have been rescued from the power of darkness and into the kingdom of light!
God will bless you abundantly, so that in all things, at all times, you will have everything you need to do, everything God has called you to do.
Nothing will ever be able to separate you from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
4.) The battle may rage but you have won the war!
“So now I live with the confidence that there is nothing in the universe with the power to separate us from God’s love. I’m convinced that his love will triumph over death, life’s troubles, fallen angels, or dark rulers in the heavens. There is nothing in our present or future circumstances that can weaken his love. There is no power above us or beneath us—no power that could ever be found in the universe that can distance us from God’s passionate love, which is lavished upon us through our Lord Jesus, the Anointed One!”
