Description

1.) The purpose of Proverbs is wisdom, understanding, and discernment.

“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind.”
James 1:5-6 ESV

“Getting wisdom is the wisest thing you can do! And whatever else you do, develop good judgment.”
Proverbs 4:7 NLT

2.) It all starts with the fear of the Lord

“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.”
Proverbs 1:7 NIV

The fear of the Lord is not the terror of a tyrant, but the kind of awe and respect, which will lead to obedience to Him who is the wisest of all. It is the secret to obtaining genuine wisdom.

Fear is the Lord is an increased reverence for God and the things of God.

“And this is what he says to all humanity: ‘The fear of the Lord is true wisdom; to forsake evil is real understanding.’””
Job 28:28 NLT

“No wonder people everywhere fear him. All who are wise show him reverence.””
Job 37:24 NLT

We need to increase in the fear of God, the awe and the wonder of God is increasing in the fear of God when we give him more reverence.

3.) Life is all about Choices!

“my son, do not walk in the way with them; hold back your foot from their paths, for their feet run to evil.”
Proverbs 1:15-16 ESV

Stop blaming God for the dumb decisions that you continue to make.

“Come and listen to my counsel. I’ll share my heart with you and make you wise. “I called you so often, but you wouldn’t come. I reached out to you, but you paid no attention. You ignored my advice and rejected the correction I offered.”
Proverbs 1:23-25 NLT
