Pride brings destruction in your life where as humility causes great grace to come upon your life.
Humility is not thinking less of yourself, it’s thinking less about yourself.
The greatest example of humility in the history of the world is our King Jesus.
Jesus is our humble King.
Matthew 21:1-11 NIV
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!
1.) He came riding on a donkey.
Isaiah 53:2-5 NKJV
Jesus knew he had nothing to prove and nothing to lose. What appeared to be an average man on a donkey, is our soon coming king!
Our humble king is coming back again but not as a babe in a manger.
Revelation 19:11-16 NIV
Revelation 7:9-10 NIV
2.) He was secure in his identity.
Luke 19:39-40 TPT
Jesus was totally secure and confident in his identity as the king of the universe.
John 18:36 NIV
It is impossible to get rid of the cancer of pride we are plagued with until we become secure in who we are.
The more secure you are, the more servant hearted you become.
The more insecure you are, the more everything is about you.
Jesus was so secure in who he was because he knew where he came from and where he was going to.
Jesus never tried to run a popularity contest, he came to run a let’s praise the Father contest.
Humility is secure enough to serve, humility is secure enough to add value, humility is secure enough to say I submit and surrender to God’s will and His way.
If you live for people’s praise you’ll die by their criticism.
When you walk in humility, you live for God’s praise not the praises of man. Humility fears God, pride tells you to fear the opinions of man.
Humility not only worships God but it honors Him.
Humility positions us in a security to serve God and each other.
3.) He was confident in His future.
Luke 18:31-33 NIV
He rode in on a donkey while they shouted hosanna, knowing they would all soon abandon him.
Luke 19:41-42 NIV
He knew their hearts, He knew that in less than a week, some of the same people who had hailed Him, “King of Israel,” would cry out “We have no king but Cesar!” he knew that some of the same worshipers who cheered, “Hosanna” would soon be screaming, “ He saved others; let him save himself if he is God’s Messiah, the chosen one.”
None of this invoked fear into Jesus, because his faith gave him confidence for his future!
Psalms 23:4 NKJV
He knew what was in front of Him but he still went ahead anyway.
Meekness is not weakness, it is controlled strength.
4.) He was filled with passion to save our souls and satisfy them forever.
On passion week, let’s get our passion back.
Psalms 118:22-23 NKJV
Jesus was aware that his suffering on the cross would save us and satisfy us forever.
Hebrews 12:2 NKJV
This passion week let’s get some passion for Jesus. Let’s get some passion for humility. Let’s see God do great things in us and God do great things through us.
