“This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.”
Joshua 1:8 NKJV
Make sure you carry out The Revelation that Moses commanded you, every bit of it. Don’t get off track, either left or right, so as to make sure you get to where you’re going. And don’t for a minute let this Book of The Revelation be out of mind. Ponder and meditate on it day and night, making sure you practice everything written in it. Then you’ll get where you’re going; then you’ll succeed. Haven’t I commanded you? Strength! Courage! Don’t be timid; don’t get discouraged. God, your God, is with you every step you take.””
Joshua 1:8&9 MSG
You must be devoted to His word if you’re going to do His will.
Our devotion to him should be a response to His devotion to us.
God is so devoted to us, he displayed it publicly for the world to see.
“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
Romans 5:8 NKJV
“The Lord appeared to us in the past, saying: “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.”
Jeremiah 31:3 NIV
Because of His great devotion to us , our response is devotion to him.
In the same way he freely gives everything for us, our response is freely giving to him.
We are not devoted to something but to someone, and that someone is Jesus.
Jesus is the living word of God!
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.”
John 1:1-5 NKJV The more time we spend devoted to His word, the more time we spend getting to know Him.
1.) We don’t only study the Bible, it studies us.
When we study God’s word, it’s like a mirror and shows us who we really are and what we need to see.
God’s word not only shows us what is wrong but also shows us what is right!
“For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”
Hebrews 4:12 NIV
2.) Culture changes but God’s word never will.
“For through the eternal and living Word of God you have been born again. And this “seed” that he planted within you can never be destroyed but will live and grow inside of you forever. For: Human beings are frail and temporary, like grass, and the glory of man fleeting like blossoms of the field. The grass dries and withers and the flowers fall off, but the Word of the Lord endures forever! And this is the Word that was announced to you!”
1 Peter 1:23-25 TPT
3.) God’s word is a light to our path in a dark world.
“Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.”
Psalms 119:105 NKJV
God’s word has relevant answers for today’s tough questions.
“The path of the righteous is like the morning sun, shining ever brighter till the full light of day.”
Proverbs 4:18 NIV
4.) Nothing can stand against God’s word. it is powerful!
“Is not My word like a fire?” says the Lord, “And like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces?”
Jeremiah 23:29 NKJV
“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.”II Timothy 3:16-17 NKJV
