“I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make its boast in the Lord; The humble shall hear of it and be glad. Oh, magnify the Lord with me, And let us exalt His name together.”
Psalms 34:1-3 NKJV
“At this, Job got up and tore his robe and shaved his head. Then he fell to the ground in worship and said: “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I will depart. The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; may the name of the Lord be praised.” In all this, Job did not sin by charging God with wrongdoing.”
Job 1:20-22 NIV
Psalms 34:1-3 NKJV
Job 1:20-22 NIV
1.) Praise is where problems get smaller and God gets bigger
“But I will keep on hoping for your help; I will praise you more and more.”
Psalms 71:14 NLT
Stop letting your circumstance determine your faith,
Let your faith determine your circumstance.
“Oh, magnify the Lord with me, And let us exalt His name together.”
Psalms 34:3 NKJV
2.) Praise is where I get out of my feelings and I get into my Faith
His emotions don’t erode his convictions of who God is
“Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.”
Psalms 42:11 NIV
Too many people listen to themselves instead of talking to themselves.
“From the ends of the earth I call to you, I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to the rock that is higher than I.”
Psalms 61:2 NIV
3.) Praise stirs me when the world is trying to shake me
“Yes, I think it is right, as long as I am in this tent, to stir you up by reminding you,”
II Peter 1:13 NKJV
“Beloved, I now write to you this second epistle (in both of which I stir up your pure minds by way of reminder),”
II Peter 3:1 NKJV
“We’ve been surrounded and battered by troubles, but we’re not demoralized; we’re not sure what to do, but we know that God knows what to do; we’ve been spiritually terrorized, but God hasn’t left our side; we’ve been thrown down, but we haven’t broken. What they did to Jesus, they do to us—trial and torture, mockery and murder; what Jesus did among them, he does in us—he lives! While we’re going through the worst, you’re getting in on the best!”
2 Corinthians 4:8-10MSG
4.) Praise opens my eyes to see God’s Goodness
Sin will blind you then sin will bind you.
Offense will cause you to look for evidence of His absence instead of evidence of His goodness.
“Open my eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of your law.”
Psalm 119:18 ESV
“Be generous with me and I’ll live a full life; not for a minute will I take my eyes off your road. Open my eyes so I can see what you show me of your miracle-wonders.
Psalm 119:17-18 MSG
Whatever you look for is what you will see.
5.) Praise is the gift I bring
“Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that openly profess his name. And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.”
Hebrews 13:15-16 NIV
