The town of Birdsville in Outback Queensland recorded a population of 140 in 2016. Come September every year the town welcomes anywhere from 6000 - 8000 people to the Birdsville Races.

Although the event is held in Birdsville, people are travelling from all over Australia economically impacting businesses and communities along the way.
