We don't need external validation. It's obvious when I think of what I'm confident about, what I'm sure of. Like how bloody brilliant women are, and to not feel diminished by a misogynistic comment. Yet when I'm less sure, I preen at others' approval. Or ruminate on what I perceive to be a slight.
In this episode, I talk about one of the most important thought patterns that gets us into a state of self-validation. I seem to have to learn this one over and over: that I can decide that people want to hear my opinion, that I am valued and valuable in any context.
Where are you looking for others' reassurance? If you look inward instead, I bet you'll find more evidence that you are valued and your opinion of yourself is what's most important.
