Today's episode is based on one of my best friend and mentors posts today.

An incredible perspective on how we think..

Nick McLean's Post:

I've discovered why we suck at taking action...

...We can't see it!

Did you know South Korean babies and children are taught names of actions versus American kids who are taught names of objects and people.

Check it out. An American baby would be asked to identify a dog and be asked what is this?

A Korean baby would be asked about the dog. What is the dog doing?

We become extremely good at identifying people, places, and things and putting them in categories.

The downside is we are terrible at identifying actions.

This inability to see actions creates a culture and parents that are constantly asking us 'Why'.

When we do something we are always asked, Why did we do or say something?

When condemnation puts people on the defensive when asked 'Why'.

We adapt to the question 'Why' by developing skills to withhold the truth and give an answer that justifies our actions.

Since we are bad at seeing actions we point to objects and people for the reasons why something did or did not happen.

When you see someone doing well, stop asking what things, objects they have that created their life and start asking what actions do they consistently take to achieve.
