S1 E8 | Dave Snowling - Communication is our best tool

In today's episode we chat with Dave Snowling. Dave has had 47 years’ experience within the building industry, mainly involved in the supply of joinery products. He was employed as an apprentice at 16 years old and stayed with the company for a total of 23 years of which the latter years were in senior managerial positions. That company become the largest joinery manufacturer within the UK. In 1999 Dave joined a small family owned joinery company, and helped grow the company, becoming the MD and a shareholder.

In 2010 Dave started his own business as a consultant working for several different companies involved in wood processing.

We chat about the challenges he had transitioning from employment to being a business owner and effectively then being on his own. As well as managing teams and people problems and how he challenged his team, giving them accountability to grow and move forward. It really was an insightful chat, and the overarching theme of the conversation was the importance of communication and how this is the best tool in our toolbox as leaders.
