Much of our suffering is self-induced. When we use our volition to go negative to the plan of God and say no to the authority of God this negative volition is a misery manufacturing machine. When we sin and don’t use rebound to recover we get under divine discipline. “Whom the Lord loves He chastens” (Heb 12:6). Divine discipline is punitive action taken by the justice of God to get our action to get back to obedience to His authority. “Do not be deceived, God will not be mocked. Whatever a man sows, he will reap” (Gal 6:7). You can’t live the Christian life if the Holy Spirit is not in control of your life.
