Three of the sins God hates the most are verbal sins: a lying tongue, a false witness and one who spreads strife among others. Lying is a sin. Lying mocks God because God is truth and He knows your thoughts and actions. He knows when you are lying. “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap” (Gal 6:7). Satan or any person that lies is a manipulator. They try to manipulate others to cover up their transgressions or to deceive you into doing something that is counterproductive. Satan is the master liar. “Satan was a murderer from the beginning and does not stand in truth because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies” (John 8:44). Lying to yourself is an indication of arrogance.
