You must guard your soul with the Word of God. “Guard your soul with all diligence because out of it are the issues of life” (Prov 4:23). You guard your soul by learning and applying God’s Word. You’re in a spiritual war. If you allow God the Holy Spirit to control your life then you can be in tune with God’s will, plan, and purpose for your life. The secret to learning God’s Word is staying filled with the Holy Spirit so the ministry of the Holy Spirit can empower you. “Grow in the grace and knowledge of your Lord and Savior Jesus Christ” (2 Pet 3:18). The Holy Spirit will not allow false doctrine to cycle into your soul because it would be a sin. “To him that knowers to do good and doth not, to him it is sin” (James 4:17). Only the Holy Spirit can verify what’s true. Only the Holy Spirit can allow you to have fellowship with God.
