God gives you power resources to use in this life. “For God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power and love and discipline [a sound mind]” (2 Tim 1:7). The Holy Spirit escorts and empowers you through time to eternity. “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you” (Acts 1:8). The Christian life can’t function without the filling of the Holy Spirit. You must be filled with the Holy Spirit and use the power of the Word of God to discern and defeat the schemes of the devil, the lures of the world and your flesh (the sin nature). Faith is your power, and it comes from studying and applying God’s Word. “So faith comes from hearing and hearing by the Word of God” (Rom 10:17).
