Your soul’s mentality is the real you, not your body. “For as he thinks, so he is” (Prov 23:7). Your volition determines your soul’s worth and destiny. “Obtaining as the outcome of your faith [volition] the salvation of your souls” (1 Pet 1:9). The soul has volition (I will), self-consciousness (I am), mentality (I think) and conscience (I ought). Without the Word of God in your soul acting as a main line of resistance, your sin nature is free to manipulate your thinking. The answer to what’s going on in America is a spiritual revival of believers who have walked away from the doctrines of the Word of God and in arrogance no longer seek to know what God’s Word says.
