Description

We are honored to sit down for an update with the two Central Oregon cowgirls, Shandie Johnson and Amy McNamee!  They are chasing a once in a lifetime adventure and have entered what is known as the Mongol Derby...The longest and toughest horse race in the world!  https://equestrianists.com/adventures/mongol-derby/
In August of 2022, they are traveling to the grassland steppe of Mongolia and joining 38 other elite riders from around the world in a grueling 10 day, 625 mile cross country horse race!    You may be asking why in the world would anyone do that?  Well, the simple answer is....because they can!   But it goes deeper than that.  They are hoping to inspire people to try something new and to have an extraordinary goal in you life!    They have been training for a year and are in the final 11 months until they depart in early August of 2022.  Between now and then, they will be doing all they can to prepare for this epic race.  They are riding a wide variety of horses and finding ways to to simulate the Mongol saddles and terrain they will encounter!
They have started a GoFundMe, should you wish to help fund some of the costs of traveling across the world:  https://gofund.me/3e92b659
There are some local businesses who are also part of the Ranch Girls Team and are supporting them in their efforts!  So be sure to support those who are stepping up to help Shandie and Amy!
