Bruce Tyler’s story is one of service, grit, and vision. Before co-founding Weldon Mills Distillery, Bruce served as a JAG officer in the Middle East, advising military leaders on complex legal matters in high-stakes environments. That experience forged the discipline and clarity of mission that would later define his entrepreneurial journey.
When Bruce returned to North Carolina, he set out to create something meaningful for the community—launching Weldon Mills Distillery, which has quickly become one of the state’s premier craft whiskey brands. Known for its award-winning bourbons and commitment to excellence, Weldon Mills reflects Bruce’s belief in quality, tradition, and storytelling through spirits.
Bruce’s vision for revitalizing Eastern North Carolina didn’t stop with the distillery. In 2023, he purchased the legendary Randy Parton Theater in Roanoke Rapids, rebranding it as the Weldon Mills Theater. His goal is to turn the venue into a regional destination for music, entertainment, and culture, drawing visitors and new energy into the local economy.
Looking ahead, Bruce plans to expand programming at the theater, attracting a mix of national touring acts, community events, and unique cultural experiences that will put Eastern North Carolina back on the map as an entertainment hub. Whether crafting small-batch whiskey or curating world-class performances, Bruce continues to champion the idea that rural North Carolina can thrive through creativity, entrepreneurship, and shared experiences.
