Felix Charin was born in Neustrelitz as the son of a German mother and a Russian father. As a child and teenager, he performed at the Landestheater Neustrelitz and in a theater group in Bützow. During his school years, he lived temporarily in Russia and the United States. In 2012, he completed his degree at the HFF (University of Television and Film) in Munich.
His diploma film at the HFF Munich was "Leben Lassen" which he produced in collaboration with Arte and BR, wrote the screenplay for, and directed. The 29-minute short film tells the story of a Russian caregiver who takes care of an 89-year-old dementia patient with a Nazi past. Charin won the Kodak Eastman Award at the Hofer
Filmtage for "Leben Lassen"and was nominated for the German Short Film Award and the First Steps Awards. The film, like his debut film"Therapie" (2016), received the "Highly Valuable" rating from the German Film and Media Evaluation (FBW).

Jennie Miller Helderman is an Alabama writer transplanted to Atlanta in her gray-haired years. She's taught school in rural Alabama. rafted through the Grand Canyon, and worked at Pompeii. She's won awards for nonfiction and a Pushcart Prize nomination for fiction. Her next book will tell funny true stories for people who have had enough breaking news.
