It’s been years! I’m not joking when I say that! We as a family have not been on a family vacation in over 6years! I know, it’s sad and something that has taken a long time to do!
we decided on a spur of the moment… actually, a month from leaving, that we were going to go on a vacation!
it really started when Ethan was on a FaceTime call with his uncle and grandmama. He really thought that his grandmama and granddaddy were at his uncles and broke down after excitement that they were not… and that his uncle was at home with them.
We made plans and didn’t back down.
Parris, Jacob and Logan ended up flying out a week earlier than us ( who drove ) to spend time with friends… the boys in Tennessee ( luckily on the same town ) and Parris was actually 10 minutes from her grandparents for a week… we do g know how she didn’t end up not going.
The drive out was ok… but I was ready to be done driving. It took two days, normally we would do 3, but needed to make good time. The kids slept 95% of the time. Shocked us…
Devins parents had no clue we were showing up! Really, the only people who knew were his brothers. What a great surprise! When we walked in on Saturday night the look s were priceless and his parents were completely speechless!
We had Easter with them for the first time in years! We spent time with family… and we were even able to see old friends, record a podcast with Rob West ( check out his channel, Cigar Store Idiots )
Being back south makes me desperately want to move back. I miss the south so much, it just really feels like home.
Devin being home hasn’t changed, he was able to help His parents with so much… like old times. But like all things, they must come to an end.
after being with them for a week, we had to head back to make sure we were home in time. We were able to head to Nashville, meet up with friends and had to enough time to drop the boys off to fly back home.
Our friend Nathan met us in Nashville… we were supposed to go tour Jack Daniels but had over an hour wait for a tour… so off to BELL BUCKLE CAFE!!! YUMMMM! Met up with old friends and had a blast!
From that, we went to Ohio to see Devins brother! What a BEAUTIFUL place he has! It was so nice spending 2 nights there. Kinda a nature get-a-way needed.., even though we were in nature.
We are now on our way home and I can’t wait! I want to see my kids!!! Yup, they made it back before us. I’m jealous. Now I’m sitting here in the hotel knowing home is 12 hours away.
