According to the latest study on the “Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on Trafficking in Persons” of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, when it comes to human trafficking, criminals and criminal organisations have adapted their “business model” to the known “new normal”, through the abuse of modern communications technologies.
Plus States and Non-Governmental Organisations are not as capable as they were before, to protect victims as well as this pandemic has proven and enhanced that human trafficking results from economic and societal inequalities.
