Who is Quetzalcoatl? He is a Mesoamerican plumed serpent-god. Believed to have shown mankind civilization and proper stratification of societal and religious priorities.
There is a Mexica holy site called Cholula, which is the pyramid that occupies the largest square footage of any pyramid in the world, where Quetzalcoatl was worshiped most. This pyramid, like a Matryoshka (Russian Nesting Doll), sits with one pyramid atop another. All the way down to be believed as many as 7 pyramids tall!
Because of where this pyramid is located, it became a prime site for bestowing ritualistic and confirmatory power on leaders, rulers, and even, commoners. It was a revered place by almost all of Mesoamericans from Tenochtitlán, the Great Pyramid in Mexico City, all the way down to, what is today, El Salvador.
Why is this site important? Why is Quetzalcoatl so heavily involved there? What is so important about a giant pyramid that just looks like a mound of dirt?
