'Then the word of the Lord came to him, saying, And it happened after a while that the brook dried up, because there had been no rain in the land. “Arise, go to Zarephath, which belongs to Sidon, and dwell there. See, I have commanded a widow there to provide for you.” So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, indeed a widow was there gathering sticks. And he called to her and said, “Please bring me a little water in a cup, that I may drink.” ... I Kings 17:7-24

I. Drought Demeanor

• Droughts tend to cause people to do crazy things
• Marriages fall apart
• Destinies destroyed
• Families torn apart
• Abortions
• Friendships ended
• Abandon their faith
• What do you do in the drought?
• Conventional Wisdom is to Hoard

II. The Prophet’s Portion and the Widow’s Wonder 

• Of all the places God could have sent him.. why here?
• God wanted to meet the prophets needs
• God is still using little widows to provide for the needs of his prophets
• Awkward Ask
  • In this portion of scripture, Elijah asked a widow for three things
• Water in a cup
• Morsel of bread
• Small Cake

III. Securing Sons

• Because the widow responded to this challenge of faith, later on, God moved when her son died, through Elijah. God gave the widow back her future
• How many destinies and future ministries are linked to the issue of supplying needs of the Kingdom.
