For all of you coaches, consultants and freelancers out there, you have dealt with issues around promoting and selling an intangible product. Yes, your service IS a product. That fact in and of itself is a concern when we're actively working on our plan to promote this sort of business.
However difficult that is, the bigger concern these days is if you should be charging during an economic crisis. There's no doubt this pandemic has created a severe economic issue for most of the world. My clients are all coming to me with concerns so I wanted to spend some time today to unpack this and talk to you about how important it is to charge for what we do.
You can have the biggest heart and truly care about other people's financial well-being but what I can tell you is, this is none of your business. That may sound cold but there's real research on this as it relates to human psychology and valuing something.
Talking about money brings up all sorts of emotions and it can even be a little taboo. Today, I'm diving in and I don't care about the "niceties" around the topic because this needs to be talked about.
If you've got money fears and you're selling a service, this episode will shed some light on whether or not you should be charging for your services. I'm going to take it a bit deeper to talk about the amount of money you should charge in a crisis too.
