Poet, dancer, singer, activist, and scholar, Maya Angelou is a world-famous author who is best known for her 1969 memoir, ‘I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings’, which made literary history as the first non-fiction bestseller by an African American woman. The main themes of her works include love, loss and gender and racial discrimination. A poem that celebrates self-love and self-acceptance and one that personally inspires me!
