The Reclaim Podcast: Living with Prayerful Obedience

Hey friends, welcome back to Shattered to Unbreakable: The Reclaim Podcast! Today, I’m diving into a concept that’s been on my heart for a while now—prayerful obedience. Before you roll your eyes or feel the weight of those words, let me assure you, it’s not what you think. This isn’t about guilt or shame; it’s about finding peace, alignment, and purpose in the choices we make every day.

For me, prayerful obedience is all about making intentional decisions and asking myself, Does this bring glory? Glory to God, my family, my body, my relationships—whatever higher purpose I’m aligning with in that moment. It’s not about being perfect or piling on more pressure. It’s simply a tool to guide me toward better choices and deeper connections.

Let me get personal for a minute. In the dating world, societal norms have shifted so much, and honestly, it’s been a challenge. These days, there’s this expectation to rush into intimacy, but that doesn’t align with my values. Staying true to what I believe has made me feel like a rarity, and yeah, it’s hard sometimes. But prayerful obedience reminds me to focus on what matters most to me and my walk with God.

Of course, this isn’t just about relationships. This idea applies to everything—how I treat others, what I eat, how I spend my time. It’s about constantly asking, Is this decision bringing glory?

Here’s what I’ve realized: prayerful obedience isn’t about big, dramatic gestures. It’s in the little, intentional actions we take every day. Here’s how I’ve been practicing it:

Let’s be real. The word “obedience” doesn’t always bring good vibes. It can feel like pressure or even guilt, especially in Christian circles. But I’m challenging myself (and you!) to see it differently. For me, prayerful obedience is freeing. It’s about aligning my actions with my values and purpose, and when I do that, life feels more peaceful—even in the chaos.

Being aligned with my purpose and faith doesn’t mean life is perfect, but it does mean I feel grounded and clear, no matter what’s happening around me. One of my favorite metaphors is the hummingbird. Its wings move so fast, but it hovers in place with such grace. That’s the kind of stillness in motion I want to embody in my life.

Here’s my challenge for you: this week, take a moment with every decision and ask yourself, Where is the glory in this? Whether it’s in your relationships, your work, or how you care for yourself, let this question guide you. And remember, it’s not about perfection—it’s about progress and intention.

I’m so excited to hear how this works for you! Prayerful obedience has been such a game-changer in my life, and I hope it becomes a powerful tool in yours too. Thanks for hanging out with me today. As always, stay sparkly!
