By definition, codependency is excessive emotional or psychological reliance on a partner, typically one who requires support on account of an illness or addiction. In our partners’ early recovery we were introduced to this word, and it was a game changer. Today we are honored to speak with Jay Harpring, a Licensed Clinical Addictions Counselor (LCAC) who has been in the field of addiction for over 20 years. Jay led the family support group we were all a part of and was a huge influence in all our our lives. Jay shares 20 questions to ask yourself if you feel you might be codependent, the effects codependency can have on relationships and some resources to help break the cycle.
